Mouse IgG is a passive interference blocker that works by preventing anti-mouse antibodies from binding to the antibodies in the assay and causing a false negative or false positive result. It must be added in excess concentration so that enough alternative binding sites are provided to remove weakly binding antibodies that can cause interference. The effectiveness depends on the affinity of the interfering antibody for the Mouse IgG. Mouse IgG should be used in any sandwich or competitor immunoassay that uses mouse monoclonal antibodies.
