SAH

S-Adenosyl-Homocysteine (SAH) is formed by the demethylation of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) and acts as an intermediate in synthesizing cysteine and adenosine. Elevated levels of SAH are positively associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease and the development and progression of atherosclerosis. Plasma SAH is a potential novel biomarker for the early clinical identification of cardiovascular disease.
