Alphavirus
Alphavirus is a genus of viruses transmitted primarily by mosquitoes, known to cause diseases such as chikungunya and encephalitis in humans. These viruses can lead to symptoms ranging from fever and joint pain to more severe neurological complications. Early detection is critical, with alphavirus antigen and antibody testing used for diagnosis. Alphavirus immunoassay reagents play a key role in identifying the presence of the virus, as well as anti-alphavirus antigen and antibody levels. Effective alphavirus treatment typically focuses on managing symptoms, as there are currently no specific antiviral therapies available.
