Mayaro

Mayaro virus is a mosquito-borne disease endemic to certain humid forests of tropical South America where the Haemagogus mosquito species lives. Most infections cause non-specific, mild, and self-limiting illness such as fever and rash, typical of other arboviruses. Diagnosis is by RT-PCR or IgM antibody detection by ELISA.
