Taq HS Antibody

Taq HS Antibody binds Taq DNA polymerase and inhibits its activity until reaction temperature is elevated at the start of a PCR (hot start PCR). At that point, the Taq Antibody is denatured and releases its hold on Taq DNA polymerase, allowing DNA synthesis to proceed. This enhances the specificity and sensitivity of PCR by preventing primer-dimer formation and non-specific amplification at lower temperatures.

Meridian's Taq HS Antibody

  • Anti-Taq antibody for hot start PCR.

  • Helps to prevent mispriming and non-specific amplification derived from primer dimers.

  • Can be used under conventional PCR conditions.

  • Glycerol-free, ideal for preparation of dried-down PCR tests.

Efficient and sensitive amplification with both wet (black) and lyophilized (blue) PCR tests

Taq HS Antibody graph
Glycerol-Free Taq HS, 50 U/µL (MDX011) was mixed with Taq HS Antibody and lyophilized (blue) or left as a wet mix (black), these were used with a 10-fold serial dilution of template. Results illustrate that lyophilization of Taq HS Antibody with the Glycerol-Free Taq HS does not have an effect on the quality of the qPCR, as both the assays demonstrate identical efficiency and sensitivity.

Taq HS Antibody, MDX014

Available in 20 µL (1,000 Units) or 250 µL (12,500 Units) aliquots

Description

Taq HS Antibody is a mix of anti-Taq antibodies designed to inhibit Taq DNA polymerase activity at room temperature. It is used in the preparation of hot-start PCR or qPCR master mixes and helps to prevent nonspecific amplification and primer-dimer formation, increasing specificity and sensitivity while allowing assembly of reactions at ambient temperatures. Inhibition is reversed when the temperature is raised during the first denaturing step of thermal cycling.

FAQs: Taq HS Antibody

Specificity is a measure of the unwanted by-products generated in a reaction. This is the reason for having hot start PCR, this prevents miss-priming at low temperatures and non-specific amplification.

Yes, however we recommend using a high-quality polymerase such as Taq DNA Polymerase (MDX001).

No, Taq HS Antibody is designed for standard Taq DNA polymerases, not high-fidelity Taq DNA polymerases.

Taq HS Antibody is a mix of monoclonal anti-Taq antibodies, with different isotypes, this ensures that the Taq DNA polymerase remains inactive at room temperature.

Yes, Taq HS Antibody can be added to a glycerol-free Taq DNA polymerase and lyophilized.
