Vasopressin

Vasopressin, also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is a peptide hormone synthesized in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It plays a crucial role in regulating water balance and blood pressure by promoting water reabsorption in the kidneys and constricting blood vessels. Accurate measurement of vasopressin levels is essential for diagnosing and managing conditions such as diabetes insipidus and the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH).
