Opium
Opium is a highly addictive non-synthetic narcotic that is extracted from the poppy plant, Papaver somniferum, and is the key source for many narcotics, including morphine, codeine, and heroin. Since as early as 5000 B.C. it has been used in southern Asia and middle eastern countries as a sedative and for pleasure. Opioid drug testing predominately resides on urine drug testing for initial screening with confirmation by more specific analysis such as mass spectrometry.
