Mycobacterium avium

Mycobacterium avium is a type of bacterium that can cause infections in humans, particularly in people with weakened immune systems. This type of infection is known as Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) disease. MAC infections can affect various parts of the body, including the lungs, bones, and joints. Symptoms may include persistent fever, weight loss, and fatigue, as well as lung problems such as coughing and shortness of breath.
