David C. Phillips

Chairman

Mr. Phillips serves as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Phillips spent 32 years with Arthur Andersen L.L.P. His service with this firm included several managing partner leadership positions. After retiring from Arthur Andersen in 1994, Mr. Phillips became Chief Executive Officer of Downtown Cincinnati, Inc., which is responsible for the economic revitalization of Downtown Cincinnati. Mr. Phillips retired from DCI in 1999 to devote full time to Cincinnati Works, Inc., an organization dedicated to reducing the number of people living below the poverty level by assisting them to strive towards self-sufficiency through work, and his financial consulting services. Mr. Phillips served as a director of Cintas Corporation and Summit family of Mutual Funds.

James M. Anderson

Retired President and Chief Executive Officer Cincinnati Children's Hospital

James M. Anderson is President Emeritus of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center since 1996, until his retirement in 2009. His appointment as President and CEO followed 17 years of service to the Cincinnati Children's board of trustees, including four years as chairman. Prior to joining the staff of Cincinnati Children's, Mr. Anderson was a partner in the general corporate department at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister and president of US operations at Xomox Corporation. He was former Chairman of the Board of the Cincinnati branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. His extensive civic involvement includes service to the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati and the College of Mt. St. Joseph

Anthony P. Bihl, III

Anthony Bihl brings more than 35 years of leadership experience across the global medical device market. He was Chief Executive Officer of Bioventus LLC from December 2013 until his retirement in April 2020. He was Group President of American Medical Systems (AMS), a subsidiary of Endo Pharmaceuticals, from June 2011 through June 2012, and President & CEO and Director of AMS from April 2008 until Endo acquired the company in June 2011. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Medical Solutions’ Diagnostics from January to November 2007, and prior to that held various leadership roles in his six years in the Diagnostics Division of Bayer HealthCare, including serving as President from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Bihl is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Spectral Medical, Inc., a member of the Board of Directors of Sonendo Inc., and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundation.

Dwight (Dee) E. Ellingwood

Teaching Professor, Xavier University

Dwight E. Ellingwood has 35 years of experience in health care strategy, planning, innovation and business development. Currently, Mr. Ellingwood is a Teaching Professor and Associate Director for Practitioner Experience at Xavier University’s Graduate Program of the Department of Health Service Administration. Mr. Ellingwood previously served as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Communications and Public Affairs at TriHealth from 2014 to 2016, Lead Executive for Cincinnati’s Collective Impact on Health in 2014, Senior Vice President of Planning and Business Development at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center from 1997 to 2013 and Senior Vice President at Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1990 to 1997. Prior to 1990, Mr. Ellingwood was a Senior Partner in a health care consulting practice in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jack Kenny

Chief Executive Officer

Jack Kenny serves as Meridian’s Chief Executive Officer and on the Meridian Board of Directors. He joined the company in October 2017. Before his tenure at Meridian, Mr. Kenny served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, North America, with Siemens Healthcare, 2014 - 2017. From 2012 - 2014, Mr. Kenny served as Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Region, for Becton Dickinson, Diagnostic Systems. Prior to 2012, he held executive roles at Danaher Corporation and Quest Diagnostics. Mr. Kenny’s experience as a key executive leader within large public companies in the health care and medical device industry, as well as his ongoing insights into Meridian’s business and operations, makes him a valuable member of the board.

John C. McIlwraith

Co-founder Allos Ventures

John McIlwraith is a Managing Director of Allos Ventures where he leads investments in early stage technology companies including in the healthcare industry. Prior to co-founding Allos Ventures in 2010, Mr. McIlwraith was a Managing Director of Blue Chip Venture Company. He has served on the board of directors of more than 20 healthcare or information technology companies including Assurex Health, an informatics-based precision medicine company providing treatment decision support for behavioral health conditions, where he served as lead director. Prior to joining Blue Chip in 1997, Mr. McIlwraith served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and General Counsel of publicly-traded Quantum Health Resources and was a partner in the Jones Day law firm.

John M. Rice

Managing Director, Cincytech, LC

CincyTech manages a family of seed ventures capital Funds that provide advice and capital to entrepreneurs and help research institutions commercialize technology through startups. He was previously Founder and Managing Partner with Triathlon Medical Ventures, and early stage life science venture capital firm.  He serves on the board of directors of multiple privately held healthcare companies as well as on several academic and foundation advisory boards.

Catherine A. Sazdanoff

President/CEO, Sazdanoff Consulting LLC; Strategy Advisor/Chief Compliance Officer, Strata Oncology, Inc.

Catherine A. Sazdanoff is the President/CEO of Sazdanoff Consulting, LLC, providing healthcare strategy and business development advisory services, and is Strategy Advisor/Chief Compliance Officer to Strata Oncology, Inc., a precision oncology company, among other clients. She is an independent member of the Board of Directors of InMed Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (TSX: IN; OTCQX: IMLFF) and a member of the Advisory Board of Neurocern, Inc., a dementia insurtech company. Catherine is a lecturer in the Business of Biotech program at the University of Chicago Graham School for Continuing and Professional Education and serves on the External Advisory Board of the Rosalind Franklin University Innovation and Research Park. Ms. Sazdanoff's prior corporate roles include Chief Business Officer at Strata Oncology; a number of global corporate positions with Takeda Pharmaceuticals including VP, Global Business Development, VP/ Head of Corporate Projects, and VP, Corporate Development; and Abbott Laboratories, where she held numerous executive positions covering legal, compliance, and business development. She received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.

Felicia Williams

Interim CFO and Enterprise Risk Officer, Macy’s, Inc.

Felicia Williams was elected Interim CFO for Macy’s, Inc. on June 1, 2020. Williams was named the Chief Accounting Officer, Controller and Enterprise Risk Officer on June 1, 2016. Previously she had served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Enterprise Risk Management at Macy’s from 2010 through 2016; and has held a variety of Vice President positions in treasury, investor relations, and risk management from 2006 to 2010. Williams joined Macy’s as Vice President, Internal Audit in 2004, after having served as Director of Internal Audit for Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company in Athens, Greece. She began her career with the Coca-Cola system in Atlanta, Georgia in 1994 and held a variety of positions in the Finance and Treasury Services areas. Prior to joining Coca-Cola, Williams worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb in New York City and Arthur Andersen & Company in Washington, D.C. Williams, a native of Chicago, is a summa cum laude graduate of Florida A&M University and a Certified Public Accountant.

Jack Kenny

Bryan Baldasare

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Bryan T. Baldasare, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has been with Meridian since 2000 and has held several leadership positions in the financial operations and treasury areas. Mr. Baldasare also serves as Meridian’s Chief Accounting Officer. Mr. Baldasare is a Certified Public Accountant (non-practicing) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant as well as a member of both the AICPA and Financial Executives International. Prior to Meridian, Mr. Baldasare was a Senior Audit Manager at Arthur Andersen LLP.

Melissa McCarey

Vice President, Global Human Resources

Melissa McCarey was appointed Global Vice President of Human Resources in April of 2018. She is responsible for all human resource members across Meridian’s international sites. Ms. McCarey joined Meridian from Ortho Clinical Diagnostics where she was the Director of HR for North America Commercial Operations. Prior to her tenure at Ortho, she spent 15 years at Siemens Healthcare in various HR leadership positions.

Tony Serafini-Lamanna

Executive Vice President, Diagnostics

Tony Serafini-Lamanna has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare diagnostics industry in various leadership roles. Tony joined Meridian Bioscience in 2018 as Vice President and General Manager of the Diagnostics business unit, where he was instrumental developing and executing the Diagnostics strategic plan. In his tenure, he drove commercial excellence by mobilizing marketing, technical services, and commercial operations and also drove new product development and the acquisition and integration of two companies. Tony was appointed Executive Vice President and Corporate Officer in May 2020. Before joining Meridian, he served as General Manager and led commercial operations and global marketing for Siemens Healthineers.

Lourdes Weltzien

Executive Vice President, Life Science

Dr. Lourdes G. Weltzien has more than 25 years of experience in the Life Science and Diagnostic industry and joined Meridian in July 2008 as General Manager for the Life Science business. She was appointed Vice President in September 2013, and President of Asia Pacific Markets in July 2016. In March 2018, she became Executive Vice President for our Life Science business, which consists of raw materials for the development and manufacturing of molecular and immunological assays. Before joining Meridian, Dr. Weltzien held various President, Vice President, and General Manager positions at Sigma-Aldrich Corporation (now Millipore-Sigma) since 1994. Her responsibilities included full P&L management in Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Product Management in North America and in Europe.

Charles Wood

Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Business Development & Investor Relations

Charlie Wood joined in January of 2020 as Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Business Development, and Investor Relations. He joined Meridian from Thornburgh & Peterson, where he was advising small to medium businesses on strategic finance, growth strategy, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. Prior to Thornburgh & Peterson, Mr. Wood held various leadership roles in Corporate Development, Strategy, and Finance at AT&T and Electronic Arts.
