David C. Phillips

Chairman
Show Bio

Mr. Phillips serves as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Phillips spent 32 years with Arthur Andersen L.L.P. His service with this firm included several managing partner leadership positions. After retiring from Arthur Andersen in 1994, Mr. Phillips became Chief Executive Officer of Downtown Cincinnati, Inc., which is responsible for the economic revitalization of Downtown Cincinnati. Mr. Phillips retired from DCI in 1999 to devote full time to Cincinnati Works, Inc., an organization dedicated to reducing the number of people living below the poverty level by assisting them to strive towards self-sufficiency through work, and his financial consulting services. Mr. Phillips served as a director of Cintas Corporation and Summit family of Mutual Funds.

James M. Anderson

Retired President and Chief Executive Officer Cincinnati Children's Hospital

James M. Anderson is President Emeritus of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center since 1996, until his retirement in 2009. His appointment as President and CEO followed 17 years of service to the Cincinnati Children's board of trustees, including four years as chairman. Prior to joining the staff of Cincinnati Children's, Mr. Anderson was a partner in the general corporate department at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister and president of US operations at Xomox Corporation. He was former Chairman of the Board of the Cincinnati branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. His extensive civic involvement includes service to the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati and the College of Mt. St. Joseph.

Dwight E. Ellingwood

President, D.E.E. Strategy Consulting, LLC

Dwight E. Ellingwood has 35 years of experience in health care strategy, planning, innovation and marketing. Mr. Ellingwood is a Teaching Professor at Xavier University’s Graduate Program in the Department of Health Service Administration. He is also the President of D.E.E. Strategy Consulting, LLC, partnering with leadership in healthcare, innovation, education and the community. Mr. Ellingwood previously served as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Communications and Public Affairs at TriHealth from 2014 to 2016, Lead Executive for Cincinnati’s Collective Impact on Health in 2014, Senior Vice President of Planning and Business Development at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center from 1997 to 2013 and Senior Vice President at Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1990 to 1997. Prior to 1990, Mr. Ellingwood was a Senior Partner in a health care consulting practice in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jack Kenny

Chief Executive Officer

Jack Kenny serves as Meridian’s Chief Executive Officer and on the Meridian Board of Directors. He joined the company in October 2017. Before his tenure at Meridian, Mr. Kenny served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, North America, with Siemens Healthcare, 2014 - 2017. From 2012 - 2014, Mr. Kenny served as Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Region, for Becton Dickinson, Diagnostic Systems. Prior to 2012, he held executive roles at Danaher Corporation and Quest Diagnostics. Mr. Kenny’s experience as a key executive leader within large public companies in the health care and medical device industry, as well as his ongoing insights into Meridian’s business and operations, makes him a valuable member of the board.

John C. McIlwraith

Co-founder Allos Ventures

John C. McIlwraith co-founded Allos Ventures, a venture capital firm, in March 2010 and has served as a Managing Director there since that time. Prior to founding Allos Ventures, Mr. McIlwraith was a Managing Director of Blue Chip Venture Company, a Cincinnati-based venture capital firm, which he joined in 1997. He has served on the board of directors of more than 20 healthcare or information technology companies including Assurex Health, Inc., an informatics-based precision medicine company providing treatment decision support to health care providers for behavioral health conditions, where he served as lead director. Prior to 1997, Mr. McIlwraith served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and General Counsel of publicly-traded Quantum Health Resources, Inc., and was a partner in the Jones Day law firm.

John M. Rice

Founder and Managing Partner of Triathlon Medical Venture Partners

Dr. Rice is the founder, and since 2003 has been the Managing Partner, of Triathlon Medical Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that invests equity capital in early and expansion stage life science companies. Since 2014, Dr. Rice has served as the Director of Life Sciences at CincyTech, a firm that provides advice and capital to entrepreneurs and helps research institutions commercialize technology through startups. He has served on the board of directors of several privately held healthcare companies as well as several academic advisory boards.

Catherine A. Sazdanoff

President/ CEO, Sazdanoff Consulting LLC and Business Advisor, Strata Oncology, Inc.

Catherine A. Sazdanoff is the President/ CEO of Sazdanoff Consulting, LLC, providing healthcare strategy and business development advisory services, and is Business Advisor to Strata Oncology, Inc., a precision oncology company, among other clients. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Neurocern, Inc., a dementia insurtech company, and is a lecturer in the Business of Biotech program at the University of Chicago Graham School for Continuing and Professional Education. She serves on the Faculty Advisory Board of the University of Chicago Graham School and on the External Advisory Board of the Rosalind Franklin University Innovation and Research Park. Ms. Sazdanoff's prior corporate roles include Chief Business Officer at Strata Oncology; a number of global corporate positions with Takeda Pharmaceuticals including VP, Global Business Development, VP/ Head of Corporate Projects, and VP, Corporate Development; and Abbott Laboratories, where she held numerous executive positions covering legal, compliance, and business development. She received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.

Felicia Williams

Executive Vice President, Controller and Enterprise Risk Officer, Macy’s, Inc.

Felicia Williams has served as Executive Vice President, Controller and Enterprise Risk Officer at Macy’s Inc. since June 2016. Previously she had served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Risk Management at Macy’s from February 2011 through June 2016; and in other finance, treasury, risk management and internal audit capacities since joining the Company in June 2004. Prior to her time at Macy’s, Ms. Williams served in various financial positions at the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company and The Coca-Cola Company from June 1994 through June 2004.

Bryan Baldasare

Senior Vice President, CAO, Corporate Controller and Treasurer

Bryan T. Baldasare, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and Treasurer, has been with Meridian since 2000, and has held several leadership positions in the financial operations and treasury areas. Mr. Baldasare also serves as Meridian’s Chief Accounting Officer. Mr. Baldasare is a Certified Public Accountant (non-practicing) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant as well as a member of both the AICPA and Financial Executives International. Prior to Meridian, Mr. Baldasare was a Senior Audit Manager at Arthur Andersen LLP.

Melissa McCarey

Vice President, Global Human Resources

Melissa McCarey was appointed Global Vice President of Human Resources in April of 2018. She is responsible for all human resource members across Meridian’s international sites. Ms. McCarey joined Meridian from Ortho Clinical Diagnostics where she was the Director of HR for North America Commercial Operations. Prior to her tenure at Ortho, she spent 15 years at Siemens Healthcare in various HR leadership positions.

Eric Rasmussen

Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Eric Rasmussen joined Meridian in June 2018 as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in January 2019. Mr. Rasmussen joined Meridian from Lear Corporation where he was responsible for corporate strategy, as well as acquisition and divestiture activities. During his career at Lear, he also held senior positions in finance and led global financial planning and analysis, working closely with accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations and operational finance teams. Prior to Lear, Mr. Rasmussen was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch and an equity research analyst with Schroders.

Lourdes Weltzien

Executive Vice President, Life Science

Dr. Lourdes G. Weltzien has more than 25 years of experience in the Life Science and Diagnostic industry and joined Meridian in July 2008 as General Manager for the Life Science business. She was appointed Vice President in September 2013, and President of Asia Pacific Markets in July 2016. In March 2018, she became Executive Vice President for our Life Science business, which consists of raw materials for the development and manufacturing of molecular and immunological assays. Before joining Meridian, Dr. Weltzien held various President, Vice President, and General Manager positions at Sigma-Aldrich Corporation (now Millipore-Sigma) since 1994. Her responsibilities included full P&L management in Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Product Management in North America and in Europe.
