NGAL Antigens
Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL), also known as Lipocalin-2, is a glycoprotein involved in various physiological processes, including the innate immune response and iron transport. Traditionally recognized as a biomarker for kidney injury, recent studies have highlighted its significance in cardiovascular diseases. Elevated NGAL levels have been detected in patients with atherosclerotic plaques and myocardial infarction, suggesting its potential role in the development and progression of atherosclerosis.
