Lyophilization -Ready Molecular Reagents for Cold Chain-Independent Diagnostics

Wednesday, November 11, 2026
11:00 AM – 11:50 AM PST
Location: Yakima 2, Level 1, Arch at 800 Pike

The growing adoption of decentralized molecular diagnostics requires reagents that maintain reliable analytical performance while eliminating cold-chain dependence. This workshop explores how lyophilization enables the development of robust point-of-need testing using isothermal amplification chemistries, bacterial DNA-free qPCR master mixes, or NGS library preparation reagents. Meridian Life Science will present strategies for developing lyophilization-ready formulations and experimental data demonstrating their sensitivity, specificity, and ambient-temperature stability, highlighting how lyophilization expands access to molecular diagnostics in decentralized settings.

About the Speaker

Thomas Fouqueau, Ph.D. is an R&D Manager for Meridian Life Science
Thomas obtained a Ph.D. in 2013 in biochemistry and molecular biology while studying the catalytic activities of thermostable RNA polymerases at the University of Regensburg, Germany. He later extended his research interest by exploring the global modulation of cellular transcription by viral infection in extremophiles using structural and genomic approaches at University College London, UK.

With over 12 years’ experience working with and optimizing qPCR and LAMP assays, Thomas now runs a team focused on developing new innovative qPCR and LAMP mixes used by the global diagnostic industry for the development of diagnostic kits.
