Oxycodone
Oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid with structural similarity to codeine and is made by modifying Thebaine, an organic chemical found in Opium. It produces potent euphoria, analgesic, and sedative effects, and has a dependence liability similar to morphine. It is used clinically to relieve moderate to severe pain however, it is also used illegally, especially the long-acting form of the drug which is marketed as OxyContin. The half-life of oxycodone is between 3.5 and 5.5 hours however its main metabolites noroxycodone and oxymorphone can be detectable 2-4 days in urine.
