Zn-PVA Stool Transport

• Reagent alcohol (28%) in a stabilizing solution containing zinc sulfate and polyvinyl alcohol provides an acceptable preservative-fixative for protozoan trophozoites and cysts
• The resulting permanent slide lends itself to commonly used staining procedures such as Wheatley’s trichrome or iron hematoxylin
• Ten-percent formalin-preserved specimens may be examined directly or concentrated for recovery of eggs, larvae, and protozoan cysts

10% Formalin Stool Transport

• Para-Pak 10% Formalin preserved specimens may be examined directly and concentrated for recovery of eggs, larvae, and protozoan cysts
