Revolutionizing Next-Generation Sequencing Accessibility by Innovating Reagent Logistics

November 7, 2024 | 12:45 pm – 1:15 pm | CoLab Theater Assignment: 1

Join Michele Amasio, Ph.D., Senior Manager, R&D, to learn about the logistical barriers to NGS democratization with the challenges due to shipping and storage of reagent kits under refrigeration conditions. Discover the technological advancements in NGS chemistries that are increasing the affordability, accessibility, and sustainability of NGS and how Meridian’s new glycerol-free enzymes are being used to enable lyophilization of the library preparation and amplification kits and eliminate the need for energy-intensive transportation and storage conditions and decrease NGS workflow-associated carbon footprint. And find out about the high-concentration enzymes that are meeting the demand for miniaturization, often required for point-of-care devices, and maximizing sample input quantity to improve assay sensitivity.

About the Speaker

Dr. Michele Amasio earned his Ph.D. in Cell, Molecular, and Industrial Biology from the University of Bologna in 2009, focusing his research on the role of glycoproteins in HSV-1 entry into host cells. He has a rich background in biotechnology, having previously contributed to Promega and Base4Innovation. Currently, as the Senior R&D Manager at Meridian Life Science, Dr. Amasio leads the development of innovative molecular reagents for various applications, including qPCR, isothermal amplification technologies, and Next-Generation Sequencing. His work significantly enhances the capabilities of in-vitro diagnostic kits used globally.
