TBG Antibodies
Thyroxine-Binding Globulin (TBG) is a high-affinity serum protein responsible for transporting thyroid hormones—thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3)—in the bloodstream. It accounts for approximately 76% of plasma protein thyroxine-binding activity. Variations in TBG levels can influence total concentrations of T4 and T3, potentially leading to misinterpretation as thyroid dysfunction. Therefore, accurate measurement of TBG is essential for distinguishing between true thyroid disorders and alterations due to binding protein levels.
