• Polyvinyl alcohol is a water soluble plastic which when combined with Schaudin’s modified fixative (cupric sulfate) provides an acceptable preservative-fixative for protozoan trophozoites
• The resulting permanent slide lends itself to commonly used staining procedures such as Wheatley’s trichrome or iron hematoxylin

10% Formalin Stool Transport

• Para-Pak 10% Formalin preserved specimens may be examined directly and concentrated for recovery of eggs, larvae, and protozoan cysts
