Key Product Features

Sensitive detection of Bacterial DNA

The activity of the Glycerol-Free Non-Bac HS Taq Polymerase (HC) was tested in a triplex qPCR assay targeting marker genes from three bacteria (16s rRNA gene from Enterococcus, Mip gene from Legionella pneumophila and ToxA gene from Pseudomonas aeruginosa), using 10-fold serial dilution of the bacterial genomic DNAs. The result shows that Glycerol-Free Non-Bac HS Taq Polymerase (HC) can successfully detect multiple targets down to 1 copy of DNA in multiplex assays.

Description

Glycerol-Free Non-Bac Taq HS Polymerase (HC) is a high concentration (50 U/µL) thermostable DNA polymerase and is supplied as a high-performance glycerol-free Taq DNA Polymerase premixed with a Taq hot start antibody. Ideal for sensitive or multiplex PCR, delivering high specificity and zero bacterial DNA.

The glycerol-free formulation can be used to produce lyophilized or air-dried, ambient-temperature stable PCR or qPCR reagents and exhibits the same high performance before and after drying, offering greater flexibility for assay design and format.

FAQs: Glycerol-Free Non-Bac Taq HS Polymerase (HC)

What does “Non-Bac” mean?
“Non-Bac” refers to the enzyme’s non-bacterial expression system. Unlike traditional Taq polymerase produced in E. coli, this polymerase is expressed in a recombinant eukaryotic system, ensuring it is free from bacterial (E. coli) DNA contamination.
Trace bacterial DNA can act as an unintended template, leading to false positives, particularly in assays targeting bacterial or microbial DNA. This is especially critical for low-copy detection, multiplex PCR and environmental or diagnostic testing.
Yes. Glycerol-Free Non-Bac Taq HS Polymerase (HC) is specifically designed for difficult and multiplex PCR applications, delivering high specificity and sensitivity even when amplifying multiple low-abundance targets in the same reaction.
Glycerol-free enzymes are better suited for lyophilization and ambient storage, enabling cold-chain-free shipping and supporting point-of-care and decentralized testing applications.
No, the Glycerol-Free Non-Bac Taq HS Polymerase (HC) can be used in exactly the same way as a glycerol-containing enzyme, however it allows the assay to be future-proofed, should you consider lyophilization and ambient storage, enabling cold-chain-free shipping and supporting point-of-care and decentralized testing applications.

It is ideal for applications where contamination control and sensitivity are critical, including:

  • Pathogen and infectious disease diagnostics
  • Environmental and water testing
  • Pharmaceutical and food safety screening
  • Point-of-care and near-patient testing
