Meridian offers ready to use molecular master mixes for PCR and isothermal amplification, include master mixes formulated for direct use with crude lysates, and master mixes that can be lyophilized and air-dried.

FAQ’s

Using molecular master mixes are convenient, reduces assay development times and pre-empt possible errors in mixing, making them ideal for high-throughput applications.

Master mixes usually contain enzymes (hot start polymerase/reverse transcriptase), an optimized buffer containing PCR enhancers, dNTPs, MgCl2, only template, primers, probes (if being used), and water, to make up the volume, normally need to be added.

Our master mixes are compatible with most standard cycling conditions and can also be used with very fast cycling conditions, however some optimization may be required for specific assay development.

There are several other advantages of one-step reactions, these include limited sample handling and reduced bench time, which helps to decrease chances for pipetting errors and cross contamination between reverse transcription and qPCR steps. This method is quick to set up and makes processing multiple RNA samples easy (especially when using liquid handling robotics), when you are amplifying only a few genes of interest. It is therefore ideal for high throughput screening laboratories where only a few reverse transcription qPCR assays are run repeatedly, using well-established reaction conditions, with the added advantage that multiplex qPCR of the gene of interest and control genes can be done in single well, from same RNA sample.

Yes, our PCR master mixes are designed to be used in multiplex assays. It is also possible to create a multiplex LAMP assay using different primers and probes, however they can be difficult to design and optimize as each sequence requires three sets of primers.

Yes, the Lyo-Ready and Air-Dryable master mixes can be used as liquid mixes or dried and stored at ambient temperature without needing to change the reaction conditions and drying/storage will not affect the sensitivity of the test.

It is stable for up to 2 years at ambient temperature if correctly stored in sealed pouches.
